Ahhh... February. It can be a hard month to get through- Winter is in full swing, the holidays are only a happy memory and when the sun does come out, it only hangs around for a couple of hours and then it's dark again. But wait! There's a light! Valentines day swoops in mid month and saves us. I think there is a big misconception that V-day is just for lovers- I'm here to tell you its not, it's for everyone, young and old, who ever cared about anyone. Ever. Period. Let's celebrate love this month!

This month we're featuring a cupcake from a couple of years back and, watch out, it's red hot and delicious. It's a spicy chocolate cupcake with spicy chocolate buttercream on top- if you were cold before, this one is going to warm you up! It's a super duper combo of chocolate, cinnamon, chili and more. Get 2 and make sure you give one to your love this month- whoever they are!

Happy New Year! We are back in the kitchen after a lovely break! 2011 was a great year, filled with tons of really fun and unique cakes, cupcakes, pies and cookies- we can't wait to see what 2012 brings! Our calendar has lots of fantastic cakes to look forward to already... we would love to make something for you!

Just a note about the new cupcake of the month. Before I tell you about it, you should know that it should come with a warning- it's really yummy, so good that you'd better get 2. It's a cinnamon French toast cupcake with a delicious cinnamon-streusel topping (you can see the streusel peeking out from under that swirl of frosting below) and a maple buttercream frosting on top. The garnish on this one is a little piece of homemade cinnamon toast crunch! It's breakfast and dessert all in one and perfect with a hot cup o' joe; the cake itself is close to a coffee cake. We all think it should be your new year's resolution to try one!

Cupcake of the month!

Yikes! We're already knee deep in December and I haven't told you about the cupcake of the month yet!

Because Christmas time is a great time to eat, we've gone all out this month- not only are we featuring an all new, super delicious flavor (details to come momentarily), but we have a whole bunch of cupcakes that have people salivating this season.

Firstly, the chocolate mint is back for round 2- how could we stop making it? It's chocolate-mint perfection! Next, we've brought back a yummy stuff holiday favourite- gingerbread cupcake with chocolate buttercream frosting. Yum!

Ok, let's get down to business- this is, after all, why you read this far. Our special brand new flavor for this month is chocolate orange. BUT- it's not just any chocolate orange flavor. A moist chocolate cupcake with a chocolate orange ganache filling, topped with a chocolate orange buttercream frosting. This little treat is garnished with a segment of Terry's Chocolate Orange (you know, the one you whack and unwrap? the one that shows up everywhere around this time of the year). This cupcake tastes like a piece of Terry's chocolate orange cake! Yummy!

Customers always suggest cupcake flavours... and we do love our customers, so we thought we should listen to you guys! Hands down, our most popular request is for a chocolate mint cupcake- so, you win!

Simple, classic flavour with a dark and decadent side. Our moist, chocolate cupcake that you know and love with a fresh mint white chocolate ganache filling (this is where the decadence is!) topped with a mint infused chocolate buttercream frosting and garnished with a chocolate peppermint candy- just to sweeten the deal a bit more!

Conclusion: we should definitely start taking your advice more often!

It's here! Everyday this week, customers have been coming into the shop and asking when we will be making our (apparently notorious) pumpkin cupcakes- I'm happy to report that they have made their return on our shelves and people couldn't be happier!

I should mention that we took this cupcake from amazing to spectacular by adding some brown butter to the (already-delicious) cream cheese frosting. We also made a delicious candied pecan and pumpkin mix and sprinkled it on top! SO GOOD!

We have decided to keep last months Apple cinnamon cupcake around for just a little while longer because, well, it's too yummy to part with just yet!

Were starting to introduce our fall menu (see below post)- summer pies are fantastic, but Fall pies are so worth the wait! Pumpkin, apple, pear and more are on our shelves now. Next weekend we will be fully stocked with treats to make your Thanksgiving yummier!

This isn't your typical farmers market- while there is a selection of fresh fruit and veg there's a whole lot more! It's the perfect market for the inner-city crowd, featuring handmade jewellery, clothing, artisan pieces for the home with some great gourment coffee and food vendors... of course, we'll be selling our almost-famous red velvet cupcakes along with other treats to tempt you!

We're back in the bakery after a lovely, restful end of summer break. It's hard to believe that summer is winding down: the kids are back at school, the cottage is locked up for another year and there is a bit of a frosty nip in the air. It's always hard to say goodbye to summer, but luckily, the end of summer means lots of yummy months await us. Thanksgiving and Christmas are the most delicious holidays... wouldn't you agree?

Speaking of eating... there's a new cupcake in town and this one means business:

A moist apple cupcake with a cinnamon buttercream on top- the special thing about this guy is the mean layer of caramel-bourbon sauce hiding between the cake and the frosting; whip out a fork for this one, he's a mouthful!

Over here we're thinking about new ideas for festive fall cakes and other treats to tempt you... stay tuned for fall goodies and Thanksgiving treats!

End of Summer Break!

Unbelievable...here we are at the end of August already! Where did the summer go? How did you spend your summer? Ours was filled with gorgeous wedding cakes, baby shower and birthday cakes, some super yummy cupcakes of the month and of course delicious summer fruit pies. After all of that, we're taking a small break. We'll be closed from Monday August 29th to Monday September 5th. We'll be back on the 6th, rested and ready for an exciting fall, new flavours and fresh cake ideas.

Enjoy the rest of your summer. Hope it's filled with yummy things!

A baby shower and a new Cupcake of the month!

Well, here we are! Right in the middle of the summer already! So far, summer has been so much fun at yummy stuff- everyone has been hard at work in the kitchen making wedding cakes, birthday cakes, pies, jams and everything in between.

Last weekend, Morag and some friends threw a lovely little baby shower, and of course- Morag was in charge of the desserts! Take a look at this darling little sweet table spread:

The whole thing turned out perfectly- don't you think?

It seems as though I just told you all about the July cupcake of the month (which, by the way, was a hit!) and now, here I am again with a brand new cupcake to tell you about. This month, were featuring a cupcake to completely indulge in. A real treat to get you through the rest of this sweltering summer- I know I need it!

You will recognize the name, because these little gold-foil wrapped chocolates make an appearance yearly at Christmas time... we couldn't wait until then for you to taste the Ferrero Rocher Cupcake! It's a dark chocolate cupcake with a nutella ganache filling (we really could stop here, that much is delicious enough!) and a chocolate hazelnut buttercream topping garnished with a toasted hazelnut. Wow! This one tastes exactly like it should- like a Forrero Rocher chocolate.

Just a quick reminder about our other cupcake were featuring all summer: the S'mores cupcake is back on our shelves and selling like crazy! Come on in and try one before the end of the summertime!

New cupcake(s) of the month!

What an exciting post! I can't even wait to tell you about our 2 feature flavors this month so I'll get it out now: the S'mores cupcakes that were a HUGE hit last year are back for round 2... and because we know 4 weeks just isn't enough, were keeping these guys around for the rest of the summer! For those of you who haven't tried this one (where have you been?) its a moist chocolate cake with a chocolate graham base and a roasted marshmallow frosting. YUM!!

But Wait! There's more! Because you are already here buying all the S'mores cupcakes you can eat, you might as well pick up a few of our other feature flavor while you're at it. All the adults will enjoy this one: Margarita cupcakes! a yummy key lime cake topped with a lime frosting that's spiked with Triple Sec and Tequila and topped with (of course) a sprinkle of salt. This cupcake is the perfect accompaniment to anything you are doing this summer: weekend at the cottage, picnic in the park, drink night... the list goes on. Hurry on into the shop because these cupcakes will only be around until the end of the month.

Do I need to remind you that it's hot out? Our oven is on every day, so why not let us make your treats for you and you can leave your oven off and relax: local summer berries are in full swing and we have been selling out of pies quickly since they started.

This Saturday, June 25th is Yummy Stuff's 3rd birthday since moving to our awesome Parkdale location! We wouldn't be here with the support of all our fabulous customers... Thank you so much!

Because it's our birthday, and it's the first official weekend of summer and Ontario Strawberries just happen to be in season- we are celebrating with Strawberries. This weekend we will be featuring Strawberry pies, tarts and shortcake... on top of our regular yummy weekend offerings!

Keep checking in with us this summer- thanks to the great reception our jams got last summer, we will be bringing back our locally made jams... with the berries picked and made into jam by our own yummy staff! You can't get more local than that!

In other news, we are in full swing of wedding season, grad season, bbq season and everything in between- everyone seems to want a yummy stuff cake and we couldn't be happier! Here are a few of our favorites that we couldn't resist showing off:

Ahhh... its here- in just a few weeks we will bit adieu to Spring and welcome the first official day of Summer. There is no better feeling than being right here- on the edge of the season: I say BRING IT ON! I'm ready for scorching sun, lazy afternoons and no socks until September (or October if were lucky)!

This months cupcake is an ode to one of our fav summer corner store treats- the Creamsicle! It tastes just like a summer treat should, the cake is super light and fluffy with a nice orange taste and the frosting is super creamy, orange y and delicious! Note** make sure you buy extra, because 1 is simply not enough!

People come from far and wide to buy yummy stuff's red velvet cupcake. It has become our signature flavor, with red velvet connoisseurs all over Toronto (and abroad) comparing it to the best of the best in Canada and the USA. To sum it up- it's flat out delish!

Which got us thinking.... perhaps we should shake this recipe up and see what happens. The results are yummy- white velvet is the new cupcake of the month! What did we top this tasty treat with? A lovely, light strawberry frosting! It's the perfect cupcake for the month of May- light and delicate with a punch of fruity flavor... what a perfect way to celebrate the arrival of Spring!

Question... you know when you try something really yummy and you think to yourself "boy, that's delish! I wish someone would turn this yummy treat into a cupcake"? Yeah, we think that too...

That's why I am psyched to tell you about this month's cupcake- not only is it totally delicious, but it's a real twist on a classic, Canadian treat. Can you guess what it is?

Trivia: what famous no-bake bar, originated in the 1950's just south of Nanaimo B.C? If you answered the Nanaimo bar, you win! This month's feature cupcake is a Nanaimo bar cupcake- a chocolate coconut cupcake with a Nanaimo bar base and a vanilla custard frosting. This one just might be the cupcake that steals the spotlight!

Rock the Cradle Gala!

We were tickled pink when the St. Joe's health care foundation asked yummy stuff to donate 10 cakes to their annual "Rock the cradle" fundraiser! It was a great opportunity for us to be totally creative, every cake was totally different design-wise, but they all tied together color-wise. Take a look at the final product:

We are so happy with how the final product here looks, these cakes were given the best seat in the house at the Liberty Grand. Each cake was auctioned off in an effort to raise funds for St. Joe's new family birthing center and neo-natal intensive care unit. The event was very successful and over $425,000 was raised. Cupcake of the Month... It's back!

Remember last year when your St. Patrick's day shindig was awesome? Do you remember why it was awesome? Because you ordered our cupcake of the month as your party treats. You were the talk of the town for weeks; and we basked in your fame. Have people already called you this year, begging to be invited to your annual St. Patrick's day bash? Do you know why? Because they have been dreaming about those cupcakes since last March 17th.

I am relieved to report that we have re-introduced the Guinness cupcake with a cream cheese Baileys frosting. So far, it's been sold out every day (don't worry... we have upped our production and will keep pumping these gems out as fast as we can!) It's good, tasting exactly how it should- dark, chocolaty cake topped with this dreamy, creamy, boozy frosting. It's almost as if they were made for one another... a match made in Irish heaven!

Hurry and order them before they are gone!

Ahem... excuse the absence- so much for easing slowly and quietly into the new year- the phone is ringing off the hook, the shop is has been busy and we have been thinking about wedding cakes, Valentines day, custom orders and everything in between.... it really has been great! Now that we have a minute to catch our breath, let's talk cupcakes.

To make up for no posts, allow me to totally blow you away with this months feature cupcake- but first let me offer a warning: this cupcake is not for the faint of heart- it's decadent, chocolaty and filled with a delicious surprise. Chocolate cupcake with a passion fruit curd filling and topped with a velvety sour cream chocolate ganche. Yum! It's not often that posts about the monthly feature are made this late- this cupcake is definitely worth a trip down to the shop... hurry, you have less than 2 weeks left and these little treats are selling like hotcakes!

Happy New Year! After a lovely extended holiday, we are back in the baking groove! I would like to take a minute to encourage you to break all your new years resolutions and come in for some treats... we are fully stocked everyday with super yummy goods. Resolutions-shmesolutions.

Speaking of breaking it off with resolutions... you might be interested to hear about the new cupcake of the month for January. This month, we are giving you your favourite comfort food in a cupcake. Think about your favourite sweet comfort food... now imagine if you could enjoy this in the form of a cupcake... meditate on this for a minute (try not to drool). If you thought about gooey, warm, hot-from-the-oven chocolate chip cookies- I have a surprise for you: our cupcake of the month is "milk and cookies"! A chocolate chip cookie dough cupcake (seriously... this cupcake has the softest texture with chunks of chocolate chip cookie dough baked right into it), topped with a dreamy-creamy vanilla frosting. But we are not stopping there- sitting on top of this gem is a tiny chocolate chip cookie.
This could be the cupcake to trump them all- please make a point of coming into the shop and trying one (or 4!) before the end of the month. Hey... maybe that could be your resolution!

After a very hectic holiday season, the yummy staff are taking a well deserved break! We will be open Christmas Eve between 9am and noon- then Yummy Stuff will be closed until Saturday January 8th, 2011.

I don't know if you have noticed, but we are knee deep in the Christmas season... I do believe that Parkdale may permanently smell like gingerbread from all the cookie baking we have been doing. Our oven has been doing double duty for weeks!

Because it's been nothing but gingerbread, gingerbread, gingerbread for the last few weeks we thought we would surprise you with something different- enter this month's feature flavour... Pomegranate cupcake! A cupcake made with real pomegranate (including the seeds!), topped with a cinnamon cream cheese frosting and sprinkled with fresh pomegranate seeds! Yummy!

Here we are again... Can you believe it is November already? Thanksgiving and Halloween sped right by- we sold more pies than I can count! The yummy staff is baking like crazy- we are entering our busy holiday season! Check back soon... we will be posting all our yummy holiday offerings!

Alright- it's the beginning of the month which means you probably came here to read about our feature cupcake. I have never met anyone who doesn't care for chocolate- I will take it any way I can get it: dark, white, milk, nutty, fruity, salty or spicy, I love it all! There is a flavor combo that I am particularly fond of : MOCHA!

Yup... you guessed it- this month's feature cupcake is a mocha cupcake with mocha buttercream frosting, topped with a chocolate covered coffee bean! Yum! This month's cupcake will satisfy all of your cravings at once!

Whoa! Septembers S'mores cupcake of the month was a huge hit- tons of people poured into the shop to try it... and most of them came back for seconds and thirds!

But, September is over... which means that it's time for a new cupcake of the month! Last October we featured a really great cupcake that we have been receiving requests for ever since. Fall officially arrived last week. It seems right on schedule too- the mornings are chilly, the sun is setting earlier and earlier and the leaves are changing to those colours we love so much! Hello cozy sweaters and socks! Goodbye loud air conditioner! Hello warm blankets! Goodbye unbearable heat!

Fall is a baker's time to shine and the yummy staff is excited about the coming harvests: Pumpkins! Apples! Pears! Even sweet potatoes have a place in our bakery!

September is already here! That means it's time for a new cupcake of the month!

September is about savoring the last few days of summer- it's time to enjoy one last swim in the lake and a few more ice cream cones. Bathing suits and sandals will soon be swapped for cozy sweaters and winter boots. Time to have a few last summer bonfires... roast some marshmallows and eat a few more s'mores.

Wait!!! No need to go out and buy all the fixin's for s'mores- just come to yummy stuff and pick up our cupcake of the month: graham cracker base, chocolate cupcake with chocolate filling and a burnt marshmallow topping! I suggest picking up at least 2 for everyone... they are that yummy!

Until now we've had to turn our gluten free customers away... baking is a tricky business and doing so without traditional ingredients is even trickier! We are happy to report that (after a few test batches) we now have gluten free cupcakes and cakes! Perfectly moist, spongy cake with our oh so popular buttercream... we promise, you won't miss the gluten!

This month, Yummy Stuff is celebrating a great fruit! The Mango!

Mango's are great- you can put 'em in or on almost anything and they taste good: throw one in a smoothie, make a couple into a chutney, puree one and throw it in a sauce for a fruity kick! Now, the mango becomes a cupcake!

This month, our bakers have outdone themselves with a yummy mango cupcake, topped with a mango buttercream frosting and a lime curd filling. A perfect balance of sweet with a hint of tart filling! Yummy... Enough said!

The festival will stretch from Dufferin street all the way to Roncesvalles avenue. There will be sidewalk sales, a bazaar, a rummage sale, music and more. Classic cars will be parking up and down queen street so you can scope them out while you walk! Yummy Stuff will be set up outside with some extra special refreshments- don't worry we will have all our regular treats in stock inside the bakery as well!

July already?!
It's summertime and it's HOT-leave your oven off and let us do your baking for you!

This months feature cupcake is delicious- take my word for it! It's a walnut cupcake topped with a maple buttercream frosting... it gets even yummier with a piece of candied walnut on top...Mmmm!

We have added a few exciting (and yummy) items to our shop in the past few weeks: homemade granola and Ontario strawberry jam (the strawberries were hand picked by one of our own yummy staff!) We are also excited about the super cute aprons (kid sizes too!) arriving later this week!

It seems as though Dads are pre-programmed with a unique set of skills and can, on any day, be one (or all) of the following: fixer of all things broken, professional landscaper, BBQ-er extraordinaire, champion beer drinker, plumber, personal finance adviser and comedian. Let's all give our Dads a big hug and spend some time with him this weekend.

We have you covered this Fathers Day: swing by the shop and pick up something yummy to show your Dad how much you care. How about some cookies in the shapes of his favorite things? Maybe your Dad likes cake? Maybe he fancies pie? Or, maybe he is a golfer- why not pick him up a chocolate cupcake with "golf green" frosting and a golf ball topper he can use for his next tee time?

Wow! June already? The month of May sped by us- we spent a lot of time making some really beautiful custom cakes for many happy customers!

This month's cupcake is a real treat: orange and poppyseed, another winning flavour combo. It's the perfect treat to begin our transition into summer: light, spongy and delicate. Also perfect for snacking while strolling along Queen west- come by the shop and pick one up! Yum!

This months cupcake is an ode to one of those really perfect flavor combos... A combo that is worthy of being in sandwiches, cookies and straight from the jar!
It's a moist banana cupcake with peanut butter filling and a swirl of chocolate buttercream frosting to top it off!

Take a look at these fun cupcakes we made for a happy customer last week!

We made these little beauties for a beach themed party- but they are so cute, who wouldn't want them for any occasion? I will definitely be featuring these at my next summer BBQ!

We can make these cupcakes in any of our regular cupcake flavors. After they are frosted, we dip them in graham crumbs to make the "sand." The thong sandals, sand dollars, beach balls and starfish are all hand made out of fondant!

April is here... at Yummy Stuff that means its time for a new cupcake of the month!

This months cupcake is our toast to Spring! Blueberries, honey and lemon baked into a cupcake and topped with a lemon honey buttercream frosting.... mmm... completely fresh and irresistible!

In other news... Easter weekend is here! While the shop is closed on Good Friday, we will be open 9-6 on Saturday and 12-5 on Easter Sunday. We will be stocking our pastry case full of all kinds of Easter treats as well as all of your regular favorites. Some of this weekends features are: lemon cheesecake, chocolate cream pie, flourless chocolate cakes and Easter "egg" cakes- not to mention the cupcakes decorated with green buttercream grass and chocolate eggs... super cute and so delicious!

We are listening to you! So many of our lovely customers inquire about pies when they drop in to pick up their weekly fix of yummy stuff that we had to start baking more of 'em.

So now, our weekend rotation includes pie! Our apple pie tastes just like mom made it! Our key lime pie tastes like a dream... seriously. And our pear pie is a delicious treat, with the perfect amount of fruit and crumble topping! We are making them in 2 sizes: large $15.00 and small $5.50.

We are not stopping there! With the warm weather on it's way, we are looking forward to using all the fruit that summer brings to create fresh, seasonal pies for our customers. March has arrived! We love March because it means Spring is in the air- and nothing beats the feeling of Spring! March also brings with it a fantastic excuse to drink green beer at 10am, St. Patrick's day is the inspiration for this months feature cupcake.

A delicious, moist cake with molasses, cinnamon, nutmeg and Guinness. That's right, we put beer in this months cupcake (and it tastes absolutely fantastic)! The cupcake is topped with a cream cheese butter cream frosting spiked with Baileys Irish Cream ... This cupcake is already my favourite. Come by and try it out!

Yummy Stuff would like to thank all of the customers who ate cupcakes for Haiti! We were able to raise over $300.00 to donate to World Vision Canada! Mmmm... charity never tasted so good!

In other news... we are now selling croissants on the weekends! We love eating croissants way more than we love baking them, so we left the baking up to someone else for once! The fine folks at Clafouti Patisserie are baking up these fantastic pastries for us. We will have them every Saturday morning for the next few weeks... if the response is well- we might just keep them on the menu!

Cupcakes for Haiti.

We have decided to start selling our February cupcake of the month early. Why? Because between Saturday, January 23rd and Sunday, February 7th, we will be donating $2.00 for every one of these cupcakes sold to World Vision Canada. Please eat as many as you can.

This months cupcake is going to warm you up. Not just because eating it will be helping someone in Haiti, but because it's packed with heat! Imagine our regular Yummy Stuff chocolate cupcakes: moist, soft and full of chocolaty goodness. Now imagine adding cinnamon, ancho chili pepper, cayenne, black pepper and cloves to that chocolate cupcake. BAM! Chocolate and spices have never co-existed so perfectly!

Please remember to stop by the shop and pick up one of these charity cupcakes. Remember, the federal government has pledged to match all donations made to World Vision Canada for Haiti relief efforts... Let's eat!

After a long and relaxing holiday, we are back in the kitchen baking up all kinds of goodies. We are particularly excited about 1 delicious treat... it is our new cupcake of the month for January! Its a delicious, fluffy angel food cake cupcake with raspberry filling- topped with whipped cream. Sound delicious, doesn't it? Are you ready for the most exciting part of this cupcake? The bottom half of this tasty treat is fat free!

We also wanted to let you know that, due to a huge amount of requests, we will now be renting our cake and cupcake stands to our customers. We have a really great stock of beautiful stands to fit cupcakes, cookies and squares. Holiday Hours

After a very busy holiday season, we are closing shop for a little while to relax and spend some much needed time with our family and friends. Please note that the shop will be closing on Christmas eve around noon and we will stay closed until January 9th 2010.

The holiday season is in full swing here at Yummy Stuff! Our bakers have been working overtime making delicious Christmas treats for all of our customers to enjoy. We are still baking all of your Yummy Stuff favorites- but we've added a bunch of festive goodies for you to enjoy.

It has been a busy few weeks here at Yummy Stuff. So busy, in fact that we are just now getting around to posting our November cupcake of the month!

It's a chocolate cupcake with a salted caramel buttercream, topped off with a drizzle of caramel and a sprinkling of salt. We have barely been able to keep these guys in our pastry case long enough to bake another batch! De-lish!

Thanksgiving Yummy Stuff!!

Cinnamon, nutmeg and pumpkin are filling the bakery with the scent of Fall. Thanksgiving is just around the corner and Yummy Stuff is busy baking goodies for your dinner table.

Come in this week and pick up some tasty festive treats that are sure to please a hostess or thrill your guests. Pumpkin pies, pumpkin cupcakes, gingerbread cookie place holders, and pumpkin cheesecake squares are just a few of the delicious seasonal offerings. Bring in your own dish and Yummy Stuff will bake a fall fruit crumble right in it - your guests will think you baked it yourself!

As usual, ordering ahead of time will ensure that we have exactly what you want, when you want it!

Granny Logan's Shortbread

Yes, there was a real Granny Logan and, yes, Yummy Stuff's yummy Granny Logan shortbread is made from her tradional Scottish recipe. Granny Logan was as Scottish as they come. Her maiden name was Robertson and she lived in Edinburgh. Grandpa Logan was famous for his rendition of Hail Caledonia!

As you may have guessed by now, Granny Logan was Morag's grandmother. Did you know that the name Morag is Gaelic?

Of course, we're keeping Granny Logan's recipe as secret as the recipe for Coca-Cola (we're convinced it's equally valuable). It's known only to Morag and her mother (who has a Scottish accent to prove her credentials).

What we can guarantee is that the mixture is entirely kneaded by hand and produced in small batches. A rare treat indeed!

Come and pick some up -- $6 for a package of six, or $1.25 for a single bar from the cookie jar.

Cookie Decorating Kits!

Entertaining kids on a rainy day just got yummier! Come into the shop and pick up some ready to go cookie necklace kits.

Each kit contains:

5 small flower sugar cookies
two colours of decorating coarse sugar
white royal icing
a disposable decorating bag
popsicle sticks
a ribbon for stringing the cookies on

Sold for $10 each, the kits are packaged in a little white hat box and tied with a silk ribbon, making it a great gift for a little girl's birthday!

Yummy Stuff will be pleased to provide pricing for individual party favour cookie decorating kits, or a kit for a group of kids. We have lots of fun cookie shapes to choose from, and you can decide how many cookies you want, colours of sugar, etc.

Dad's Granola

Morag's dad is a journalist. While he's pretty good at writing, he's less skilled at most things around the house. Even changing light bulbs pose a bit of a challenge for him.

But he is quite handy around the kitchen. Dad's granola is especially yummy. The original recipe came from the internet, but he has refined it over the years with the addition of such ingredients as various dried fruits, pumpkin seeds and golden flaxseed (one of nature's healthiest foods). He uses no sugar, apart from honey or maple syrup. And it bakes for over two hours, giving it an intense flavour that you'll find in few other breakfast cereals (certainly not those bought in the supermarket).

Morag thinks her dad's future may lie in granola rather than journalism, so she asked him to put his famous recipe to work for Yummy Stuff. It's now available at the store at a cost of $8 per jar. Try one -- you're sure to come back for more.

We're thrilled to report that our new store is open for business!

We are at 1660 Queen Street West, one block east of Roncesvalles. Our store hours are:

Tuesday to Friday - 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Saturday - 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Sunday - noon to 5p.m.

We have been warmly welcomed by the Parkdale community, and look forward to being a part of the neighbourhood!

New Blog, New Store!

Thanks for reading the Yummy Stuff Blog! We hope you will check in from time to time for updates on what is happening in the bakery. This is where we will post upcoming events, specials, seasonal offerings, ideas, and new yummy things that we have been baking. We welcome you to add comments and hope that you find the blog a useful way of staying in touch. Yummy Stuff will soon be opening a retail bakery at the end of June! Thanks to our loyal and wonderful customers, we have decided to make the move to a storefront in Parkdale. We are very excited to be able to offer an assortment of Yummy favorites that you can see in our pastry case and take home with you moments later. We will also offer a selection of celebration cakes that can be ordered in advance and customized according to your wishes.

The coming weeks will be busy ones as we work to make the Yummy Stuff store a reality. We are looking forward to seeing you in the store once we open, and want to ensure that you keep coming back for more!
